ABOUT US

The First-Generation for College (FG4C) initiative is a mentorship program implemented between high schools in the Chicagoland area and National Louis University, wherein a group of NLU first-generation college students  (FG4C Leaders) coach current high school students through their transition from high school to college.  In a remote-learning environment, we engage students through virtual high school classroom visits, a blog, podcast, and social media. We discuss topics like how to achieve academic success, making new friends in college, choosing the "right" fit school, and more. Our goal is to encourage higher education attainment among first-generation students by connecting them to near-peer role models that they can turn to for guidance and support.
